Crowfish » Biography


CROWFISH is established in the city of Varna back in the summer of 1997 by Bozho Atanasov (drums), Chavdar Manolchev (guitar and vox) and Georgi Pehlivanov (bass). In the beginning the band plays covers of their favourite bands (DESCENDENTS , RAMONES, GREEN DAY, BAD RELIGION), but only few months later the boys get their selves around composing some tracks of their own. By the end of 1997 Bozho leaves his colleges and is replaced by Valentin Deskov. With him CROWFISH records and releases it's first demo album ‘Unhappy Tales'(Jan, 1998). After participating in few concert events the band starts writing songs for their first true album which comes to light in the summer of 1999. It's named ‘From Crowfish to Revelation' and it's released only on EP in limited edition. Soon after that Valentin leaves the band and Bozho comes back on his place.

In 2001 the boyr record material for a new album in Stain Studio, titled simple "Crowfish". Producer is Gepi (Stain), who also plays the role of a back vocalist. The band starts looking for a label outside the country and soon finds it in the face of the independent German label Freecore Records. As a start, the song ‘I Want to Believe' I is included in a compilation called ‘Time Is Now' (together with bands from Germany and Sweden), as for ‘Crowfish', it becomes the first album by a Bulgarian punk band to be released outside the country. The pilot tout of Crowfish in Germany is in March 2002 and is formed by 10 concerts. The trio is received pretty well from the local fans and immediately after the tour ends they start preparing the next one, which is considerably bigger, around 30 concerts in the period September-November 2002. The band also plays on festival such as New Chance, Greenboots and others. Meanwhile the trio from Varna once again enters Stain Studio to record material for two CD's. One of them is the long expected remake of the debut ‘From Crowfish to Revelation', which Stain Studio puts on the market in the autumn of 2005, and the other is the new, third album of the band, ‘Requem For a Broken Heart, recorded for Freecore Records and distributed in Bulgaria by Stain Studio.'

Year 2006 - the band once again is on the road touring Germany for around two months and after that comes back and continues with the concert activity around Bulgaria.

Year 2007 - CROWFISH focus on the work on their fourth album. In October they make a tour around Bulgaria, visiting five cities (Varna, Rousse, Sevlievo, Plovdiv, Sofia) and achieving great success. Meanwhile the band gets in touch with the independent Germany label UNKNOWN RECORDS, whit whose managers CROWFISH are in friendship since long time, and the new CROWFISH album is expected to be released in Germany too, precisely with the UNKNOWN RECORDS label. The release is planned for March 2008 and once again it will be followed by a European tour.
